Stuffed Peppers is one of the most well-known and favorite dishes of Turkish Cuisine. It is also very practical and easy to make. There are many different types of stuffed peppers. This recipe is for stuffed peppers with minced meat served hot. With this recipe, you can prepare stuffed peppers for 5 people in about 1 hour.
Ingredients
- 10 medium peppers,
- 2 medium tomatoes,
- 100 grams minced meat,
- 1 medium onion,
- 2 cloves garlic,
- Half cup rice (a cup is 200 ml),
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
- 6 stalks parsley,
- Half a tea cup olive oil (50 ml),
- 1 tablespoon butter,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- 1 teaspoon dried mint,
- 1 teaspoon cumin,
- 1 teaspoon black pepper,
for the sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste,
- 1.5 cups hot water,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- 1 teaspoon black pepper,
- 1 teaspoon butter.
Directions
Step 1: Wash the peppers and cut off the top with a knife so that the peppers look like a cup.
Step 2: Cut 10 thin slices from the tomatoes for the lids of the peppers. Grate the rest of the tomato to use in the stuffing.
Step 3: To prepare the stuffing, add the minced meat to a pot.
Step 4: Add half a cup washed and drained rice to the pot.
Step 5: Add the finely chopped onion, garlic, parsley and grated tomato.
Step 6: Add the olive oil, butter and spices.
Step 7: Mix the stuffing thoroughly with your hands.
Step 8: Fill the stuffing you prepared into the peppers, but do not fill them completely, leaving some space at the top.
Step 9: Place the stuffed peppers upright in a medium saucepan and place the tomato lids on the peppers.
Step 10: To prepare the sauce, melt 1 tablespoon butter in a sauce pan.
Step 11: Put 1 tablespoon tomato paste in a sauce pan and fry it.
Step 12: Add 1.5 cups hot water that you previously boiled in the kettle, salt and pepper and turn off the stove.
Step 13: Pour the sauce over the stuffing.
Step 14: Put the pot on the stove and cook on medium heat until it boils. After boiling, reduce the heat and continue cooking on low heat for 30 minutes.
Step 15: After the stuffed peppers are cooked, turn off the stove and let it rest for 15 minutes. It is now ready to serve.
